Mock Hobby Horse

Mock Hobby Horse - Medieval and Tudor Music, Dance and Song
Established in 1995,and based in South Devon, Mock Hobby Horse have performed all over the South West of England, and their Medieval and Tudor Music has taken them as far North as Trondheim in Norway, and as far East as Krakow in Poland. Mock Hobby Horse perform as Medieval minstrels and Tudor musicians as a duo or trio. They work with medieval and renaissance dance groups, with jesters and theatre companies. They provide music and history educational programmes for schools, run workshops and compose and arrange music for special occasions. They play regularly for parties, weddings, banquets and dances and at heritage events.
At your event they can offer:
• Lyrical early music to relax and listen to
• Music of the period to give atmosphere whilst guests arrive
• Music as a background for dining
• Lively music to join in with - catches, rounds and percussion for children of any age
• Wandering minstrels to provide entertainment inside or outside
• Music for dancing
• Traditional folk music
Mock Hobby Horse are:
Howard Frey - Mandolin, percussion, guitar, voice
Julia Thomas - Bagpipes, whistle, recorder, concertina, voice
Nicholas Millington - bouzouki, baglama and voice and/or
Russell Harris - oud, spiked fiddle and percussion.
