All musicians wanted for Border Morris side!
Melody (ideally recorder/fiddle), rhythm and drums (renaissance etc) all needed to fill the ranks of Dartmoor-based dark border Morris side. We usually play Thursday evening outs through the summer and a handful of festivals, with regular practises on Thursday evenings in winter and autumn. We’ve recorded a few CDs over the years and have a raw and primal folk sound, with added bonus of bass lines and a stonking drum section. Please see www.beltaneborder.co.uk for examples (please note -we now use dark blue face paint). Interested parties please get in touch to arrange a get-together and some trial practises. Email sanna.garton@gmail.com or telephone 07977 207603

Female Singer
I am looking for a female singer for a project (initially recording) mixing traditional British folk songs with electronics, unusual instruments and soundscapes.  It is important that the songs are grounded in tradition (mainly coming from the voice) so that the electronics elements etc can take the music towards a sense of otherness. Personally I prefer singers who use grace notes and can weave transitions around the main melody. The ability to play instruments would be a bonus but not essential. I am looking for someone with the patience to see that we are getting the sound right. I am trying to aim for something I haven't heard before. I am based in Plymouth but a lot of initial work can be done remotely, if necessary, and get together for recording , discussing etc. I have my own good quality home recording setup - I have had 10 albums released recorded with it. I am an unconventional musician but have 25 years of recording history, although not within the folk world I do have a very good knowledge of English folk music. I want the project to be fun and experimental. If you would like more details, please email Dave at info@davidmuddyman.co.uk
