Mark Waistell

Mark Waistell is a singer-songwriter, based in Devon .

Mark is an “old newcomer” because he used to play a bit 30 years ago and then life and earning a living reared its head until two years ago when he bought a handmade guitar from Devon luthiers, Brook Guitars.

Last year, Mark wrote a lot of songs very quickly and they were heard by top acoustic producer, Mark Tucker, who played them to some very well-known folk musicians and soon Mark was in the studio for the first time at the age of 57 and supported on the album by Phil Beer (Show of Hands), Gerry Conway (Fairport Convention), Spencer Cozens ( John Martyn & Joan Armatrading), Barney Morse-Browne (Chris Wood & Duotone) and Jane Griffiths.

The result is “Latecomer” -an album just released and available on I-tunes, Amazon, from Mark’s website and retail outlets and which has received pre-release endorsement from Folk Cast, which called it “a joy of an album” and Folk Words which said “it will become a classic…buy it.”

Mark is now starting to gig again as a solo performer (plus 3 guitars!) and is looking forward to getting to know the local music scene.
